Einige Aspekte der sozialwirtschaftlichen Tätigkeit der Russischen Orthodoxen Kirche

The Orthodox Church has developed a special relation to property from the earliest times. In this issue mainly a monastic-ascetic point of view has prevailed: the property is something that impedes salvation. Hence a passive relation to logistic economic activity. Apart from that, across history, in the Russian Orthodox Church there have not been developed stable traditions of managing due to a strong intervention of the state into the Church affairs. In post-soviet times due to a rapid growth of a number of religious communities and increase in a social demand for Church, a severe need of competent diaconic management has matured. Thiswould include aspects of conventional economic management, but because of additional integration of theological aspects, it would obviously go beyond the scope of the conventional economic perspective.
